B Is For...Blue

I'm going to paint my living room blue. This is a relatively new idea, and might possibly fit into the category of "passing fancy" or "whimsy," but I'm going to do it anyway. I found a gorgeous living room somewhere on the internet, all done in robin's egg blue with dark brown accents, but attempts to find it again have failed, making me wonder if it was all in my mind.

If so, that would be a remarkable turn of events, because, although I'm typically what you might call a creative person, I've had absolutely no ideas of the home décor variety.

I've always been more of a greens and earth tones kind of woman, but this has an extremely dark winter for me, and the earth tones just aren't cutting it anymore. If I'm going to be afflicted with seasonal depression, I'm going to do it in a house that screams "SPRING!"

  1. We painted our kitchen deep royal blue and white washed the cabinets. I love it. It's so clean, fresh, and (for some odd reason) encouraging.

    1. I totally know what your kitchen looks like already, Connie. Love it! I really ought to start leaving an occasional comment on your blog so I don't feel like such a stalker...

  2. My mother just painted her laundry room orange to "spruce it up for spring". I'm certain that your future room of blue would look far more fantastic than her orange room! Blue is much more *spring*!!

    1. Orange is my all time favorite color! But it seems like an easy color to overdo in decorating. Hopefully someday I'll figure it all out.

  3. Holy cow, how did I somehow not know you had a blog of your own? You probably told me and I somehow forgot, and then I was looking for the next blog after ours in the A-Z challenge list and thought "That name looks familiar!"

In other news, I love blue, and I want that pillow that's at the top of your post. Love.

    1. Sabrina, I had this blog before I joined Prosers, and I only just revived it a few weeks ago, so it's no surprise that you didn't know anything about it.

That is a very nice pillow, isn't it?

  4. Yay! Go for it! And if you have the browns, you still have your "earth tones", although technically everything is earth-toned if you consider the whole globe instead of just the "earth". I've always been drawn to blues. Our Living room is dark blue right now and we've done sky-blue before, too.
