Ready, Set, Write! Week #7

Ready. Set. Write! is a summer blog hop set up by  Jaime Morrow, Alison Miller, Katy Upperman, and Erin Funk. If you want to participate, you can link up at one of their blogs.

1. How I did on last week’s goals:

More progress! My coauthors and I have read the comments from our fantastic beta readers and have come to enough of a consensus about what to do about them that I have real things to edit. I'm pretty excited that I'm going to have some measurable goals for this week finally!

2. My goal(s) for this week

A. Rewrite chapter 8,
B. Fix the ripples this rewrite will cause
C. Write some Seb...just to vocalize my opinions for Sheena and Sabrina's sake. (especially my chapter 13 opinions)
D. Have a meeting with Sheena and Sabrina where we finalize who needs to rewrite what, and in what order.

3. A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised

Progress has been as slow as a snail--but it has been progress.

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week (ex. finding time to write, the siren song of SNIs)

The area of my brain that I access to write is shut down for repairs. I wish I could see what was going on in there, but I can't get to it at all. Cross your fingers that it is some sort of an upgrade, not a demolition.

5. Something I love about my WIP

All my love is locked up in that unaccessable part of my brain. I'll let you know next week.

  1. Progress is progress. You can do it. If your love is locked up, find something you like. any maybe you'll grow to love it. or fall in love with something else you wrote. Good luck with your goals, thanks for sharing.

  2. Sometimes I take a break to reaccess that love and info part of my brain - let the subconscious work a few things out... That, and I reread parts of my story I love. I did that this week with a previous ms - fell in love all over again. Good feeling.

Congrats on getting notes back and having a plan in place though! That's great for direction. Hope your week is a wonderful and productive one!

  3. So glad you're able to get to some edits. I know you've been wanting to do some editing for a while now. I can completely relate to the "fix the ripples" thing when it comes to revisions. I'm so there right now. Hope this week is super productive and you're able to recover your love for your story!

  4. I feel you on the "losing the love" thing. I've been known to take months-long breaks b/c of that loss, but my love for writing and for my story was bigger, and it came back strong eventually. I hope, hope, hope that's what's in store for you! It sounds like you have a great plan of action, and that can be the first step!

Good luck with revisions and with finding the love this week. <3

  5. Aw, it's so hard when your brain doesn't want to do what you need it to. Maybe get out and do something you've never done before? That usually refreshes me if I need refreshing. Good luck getting back to the page and I hope you meet all your goals this week!

  6. It's great that you and your co-authors made some progress. It must be complicated writing with others and I give you a lot of credit. Those brain shut-downs happen, but once it's up and running you'll love the upgrade ;)

  7. I applaud you for co-authoring this book. I don't know how I would fare in a situation like that. And progress is most definitely progress, keep moving forward and you'll get there!
