Ready, Set, Write! Week 6 and Soulless

If you are here for Ready, Set, Write! you can find it right beneath this gorgeous cover reveal for Soulless, by Crystal Collier.

Have you met the Soulless and Passionate? In the world of 1770 where supernatural beings mix with humanity, Alexia is playing a deadly game.

SOULLESS, Book 2 in the Maiden of Time trilogy

Alexia manipulated time to save the man of her dreams, and lost her best friend to red-eyed wraiths. Still grieving, she struggles to reconcile her loss with what was gained: her impending marriage. But when her wedding is destroyed by the Soulless—who then steal the only protection her people have—she's forced to unleash her true power.

And risk losing everything.

What people are saying about this series:

"With a completely unique plot that keeps you guessing and interested, it brings you close to the characters, sympathizing with them and understanding their trials and tribulations." --SC, Amazon reviewer

"It's clean, classy and supernaturally packed with suspense, longing, intrigue and magic." --Jill Jennings, TX

"SWOON." --Sherlyn, Mermaid with a Book Reviewer

Wowza. Is it already week 6?

1. How I did on last week’s goals:

Finally! A little progress. I've read everything our beta readers have sent us AND I've nearly made it through Sheena's 2600 word outline of what she thinks we need to change.

2. My goal(s) for this week

Next week will be my week to get super productive. That seems like such a fantasy...we'll see. In preparation, my goal for this week is to finish reading Sheena's outline and write both my own opinions (should there be any) and my responses to her opinions and my own opinions.

3. A favorite line from my story OR one word/phrase that sums up what I wrote/revised

My favorite part of Sheena's outline of changes was when she called a certain section of the manuscript "Melanie's monsterly long chapter."

4. The biggest challenge I faced this week (ex. finding time to write, the siren song of SNIs)

I'm doing better about not feeling guilty that I'm not doing everything I wish I was doing. Sheena's working on 3 books right now, and planning a camp for girls, and she still got more done on our book than I did. See how the guilt keeps creeping back? It's a tricky little bugger. Anyway, not having much time to write meant that finding time to write this blog post was tricky.

5. Something I love about my WIP

I'm at a space in my life where writing would feel superfluous if I wasn't both contractually obligated and honor bound to finish this trilogy.  I don't want to give up writing, but I'm a flitter, so I love that I have coauthors to keep me going.

  1. I think guilt and lack of time are a writer's biggest crosses. I hope you don't let the guilt get to you this week! Love the cover for Soulless. It's amazing.

  2. LOVE that cover for Soulless! And yay for getting a handle on the productivity! I don't have coauthors to keep me in line, but I do have the most wonderful set of writing friends to keep me going and hold me accountable. They are awesome, aren't they?!

  4. Never compare yourself to another writer. Everyone's process is different. Some may be faster some maybe slower. Just focus on you and your goals. Thanks for sharing. :D

  5. I hear you on the guilt, especially when it comes to writing. I spend the better part of my week beating myself up for not accomplishing what I wanted to writing-wise. So you're not alone!

  6. I love Crystal's cover too! Yay for being productive. I've been struggling with feeling guilty and stressed about not being able to do everything I'd like to as well. Definitely working on balance and time management lately! Good luck this week!

  9. Guilty... You shouldn't EVER feel guilty. We do what we can in our current circumstances, and we have to look at each day and say, "I did good. Maybe tomorrow I'll do more or something different, but for today I did good."

Thank you so much for helping with my cover reveal! You rock!

  10. guilt has this funny way of slowing us down. Push it away and say "I can do this!" And you totally can!
