WHAT I'M READING:
Cinder by Marissa Meyer
Even though I have enjoyed every steampunk book I've read, I'm always leery to try another one, so I'm a little late to the Cinder party. That's OK though because I am really loving this book, and I don't have to wait for the sequel! Or the book after that!
WHAT I'M WRITING
My co-authors and I are hoping to be done with the deep edits to Pyromancy by Saturday. Hopefully my home and family will survive that long. It's going to be a close call.
I've also been daydreaming a lot about my story set in the home of a hoarder. It's my go-to daydream for when my house starts looking particularly awful. Add a deathly ill prince hiding from enemies who want to kill him, and suddenly cleaning up seems a lot less mundane.
My great aunt just sent me a message on facebook. She said that she finished reading Alchemy and tried to give it to her grandson and his WHOLE CLASS had just finished reading it as assigned reading! I have no idea how his English teacher found out about Alchemy but HOW COOL IS THAT? It's like we're Shakespeare, or Thoreau! Thank you wonderful English teacher for making me so happy!
WHAT ELSE I'VE BEEN UP TO
What else have I been up to??? Um, um, um...
Lots of driving, and lots of lifeguarding the trampoline. A little cooking...Some cuddling...and a few more facebook personality tests than are absolutely necessary.
The Lunar Chronicles is one of my favourite series - I hope you're enjoying Cinder! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your edits! Have a great week!
Your daydream idea sounds really intriguing! I hope it blooms into an entire novel.
ReplyDeleteI loved CINDER (and the books that follow) so much! Such a great spin on a familiar fairy tale. I have to agree with Cole: that story you daydream about sounds fascinating. Definitely write it! Hope you're having a great week! :-)
ReplyDeleteI loved Cinder. Once you finished the other two you'll be desperately waiting until 2015 like the rest of us. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI loved Cinder but think I was going through a bit of a reading slump when I read Scarlet because I didn't love it as much. But I just finished Cress last night and WOW. It was so good! Can't wait for Winter.
ReplyDeleteThe Lunar Chronicles is one of the few series I've read that gets better with each book. I enjoyed CINDER, but absolutely devoured SCARLET and CRESS. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did! I totally agree that daydreaming story ideas makes housework much more bearable. You'd never guess that by the state of my of my house right now though lol. Have a super week! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read Cinder yet...perhaps I need to jump on that bandwagon!
ReplyDeleteSo, so, so cool about an English class reading Alchemy as required reading! Wow, don't YOU feel like a celebrity!! :)
Hey, are you going to any conferences this summer? I want to go to something -- even if to just get out of the house and get a much needed break-but I'm a chicken when it comes to doing things by myself. It would be great to find a writer friend... :)
Kristen--It would be amazing to go to a writer's conference and hang out with you. It isn't going to happen for me this summer. Not only am I a big chicken, but I'm a big chicken with a talent for coming up with excuses. Maybe if we find one for next summer????
DeleteSounds good to me! :)
DeleteThank you for all your comments! I can't tell you how lovely it is to get on here and see all the encouragement! Love this WUW group.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't thrilled with Cinder but I loved Scarlet. I need to read the latest.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great week!! Yay for awesome English teachers.
I loved Cinder--that whole series, actually. I can't wait for Winter to come out!! Happy editing. :D
